What were going to do here is have a moving point_viewcontrol. Were going to have it track Barney where ever he walks. What this is good for is having a movie like cut scene or making your own in game machinima. This is really eazy so lets get started.
The first thing your going to need is, you guessed it, is something to track. In this case we are going to use Barney. So put in a [e]generic_actor[/e] entity and make it the Barney model and give it the name of barney. Next you going to need your point_viewcontrol entity. So put that in your level (in my example map its right in front of barney). Here is the list of keyvalues to change.

Where going to make an elevator with two props and have it close the door once you press the button inside and go to the next level. Once at the next level the door will open and wait from you press the button again.
First you want make a prop_dynamic with the models/props_lab/freightelevator.mdl. Give it a name of prop_elevator and make the Parent elevator (we will be getting to that in a moment). Now make another prop_dynamic with the model models/props_lab/elevatordoor.mdl. Give it the name prop_door and parent it to elevator. If you look at the front of the elevator model you will see a dark beam on both sides of the door and wouldn’t you know it the elevatordoor.mdl fits right in there.

Microsoft put out a press release to day saying that very soon you can download TV shows and movies to your Xbox 360. Starting on Nov. 22 you will see them on XBL. Some of the shows you can get by years end are CSI, Survivor, South Park, and Chappelle’s Show. The movies in the press release are M:i:III, Nacho Libre, Jackass: The Movie, The Matrix, Superman Returns, and Batman Forever. You can read the full PR after the jump.
There are two question that they didn’t answer. One is how much? If its anything higher than whats on iTunes thats bad. Two is if this is going to be high-definition (or some of it) where going to need a much bigger hard drive. I’m talking huge. Like 120 gigs. But if a 20 gig cost $100 then 120 gig would be $600. That can’t be good.
Update: At the press event yesterday someone got a this shot showing a 70 gig hard drive.

Seems that the Xbox 360 Fall Update that came out today didn’t go to good for everyone. There are some that think this is a small move by Microsoft to stop people from modding there 360. But as with everything that comes from Microsoft people have found away around it.
Heres the deal, there is no real reason to mod a 360 right now. All the mods out there that I have seen don’t come close to what could be done with the original Xbox. Lets face it, you could do just about anything you wanted to an Xbox. Want to use it as a ftp server, no problem. Want a media center for playing and streaming music and movies, you got it. Want to prove how leet you are and run linux, here you go. By using soft mods or mod chips you can do just about anything. I’m betting you didn’t get a 360 to do any of this. You got a 360 for the games.
Lets face it, your not going to do almost any of the things you did with the original Xbox on your 360 because some of it is already apart of Xbox Live. With the Fall Update you can stream wmv files from Media Player 11. You can use the 360 as a Media Center if you have Media Center PC and even if you don’t have a Media Center PC there are way around it. It’s not going to be a ftp server with only a 20gig hard drive but there might be a 60gig hard drive soon.
I would love to see some cool mods for the 360 but right now there are none that I would void my warranty for. So if you are getting the E66 error today there is one thing to look forward to, theres only 9 weeks till Christmas.

There is no reason that I can see why anyone would pay $60 for any game. Much less $70. But thats just me, I could be wrong.
I’m looking at all the games for the 360 that are coming out in November and it looks like there going to be a lot of good ones. I say looks like cause I have been fooled before (Doom 3). So lets look at the list and the prices for each.
Gears of War $59.99 Limited Collector’s Edition $69.99 Release Date 11/8/2006
There is no question that this is the biggest games coming out this month. With all the hype around it you would that that its the second coming of Jizzy Crizzy. So there has to be a Limited Collector’s Edition, for $70. Now who would get that I have no idea being that there is no demo and as far as anyone knows theres not going to be one before it comes out. It comes with, and let me get this right from Xbox.com, “a highly collectible embossed metal box” – “a hardbound, coffee-table style book on the art and history of Gears of War” – “bonus disc loaded with special features including a behind the scenes look at the making of Gears of War, a trailer for The Art of Gears of War, and the short documentary Gears of War: The Race to E3″. The way I see it your paying $10 for a book because the “metal box” is just going to sit next to your 360 doing nothing in a few months and the dvd if going to be on all torrent sites and YouTube. Like everyone else I will end up getting this game but not for $60. At least not until Epic puts a demo on Xbox Live.

I see on Mint that people are coming here looking for the Pro or Core? post alot so here is the repost of it.
What do you get for $100 more? Or better yet how much is Microsoft losing with there pro 360? I was thinking about this so I decide to add it up.
First you have the core system for $300 and the pro for $400. They both have the same console and power supply but that were they similarities end. With the pro you also get the 20 gig harddrive ($100) and a headset ($20) that the core doesn’t come with. Theres $120 right there. Now lets add the price difference between the rest of the stuff that both come with. The core comes with a wired controller and the pro a wireless one ($10 difference). Core has a Composite audio/video cable and the pro has a Component HD AV Cable. You really can’t do a price difference because there is no composite cable that you can buy.
Now we have a total of $150 between the two. The only other thing that the pro comes with that the core doesn’t is a ethernet cable. You can get them for about $20 so now the price is $170. Thats a good bit of money. Now say you got a core system and wanted to get every thing that the pro system comes with. That my friend is going to cost you $210 on top of the $300 for the core system for a total of $510.
So get the pro system and not the core. You get alot more for that extra $100. Even if you can’t find a pro system right now it would be better to wait till they come in. You will save alot of money in the end.

Most people will say when they hear the name Neill Blomkamp, “Who the hell is that?”. Well thats the director of Halo that Peter Jackson has picked and if you are like me you start thinking that this is going to turn into a Doom movie clone. But before you start to think that take a look at Alive in Joburg. Its a short film that Neill Blomkamp made in 2005 and you can start to see that he is pretty dam good at fitting CG in with real world.

I stopped by Gamestop today to pick up the new Xbox Live Vision camera and left $85 dollars out of my pocket. Now I know what your saying. “You spend $85 for a camera?”. Not really because after all is said and done I got the camera for free. Now that you have no idea what im talking about I will tell you how I worked this out in my head.
